| Faaria was introduced to belly dancing through her involvement with the Society for Creative Anachronism, a medieval re-enactment group. She started taking lessons in 2002 and enjoys both the creative and fitness aspects of the dance. Faaria enjoys dancing with scarves, swords, and canes, but her favorite dance accessory is her Isis wings. She loves Egyptian cabaret style dance and Turkish cabaret costumes. In her quest to further her knowledge and skill, Faaria attends workshops whenever she can and has studied with several top instructors and performers such as Ansuya, Amaya, Morocco, Sahra Saeda, Karen Barbee, Amani Jabril, Viviane, Afritah, and the legendary Mahmoud Reda. In 2007, Faaria attained her certification and began teaching belly dance. As troupe director, Faaria enjoys choreographing new troupe dances and keeping the troupe running smoothly. When she isn’t dancing, Faaria works as the Administrative Assistant for a local non-profit organization and enjoys spending time with her husband and two sons. |
